Why Visit Winchester

Sightseeing in Winchester
Winchester is an ancient city with history in every footstep you take! Here are our top 3 'must see' sights for your day or two in Winchester:
  • Winchester Cathedral: one of the most awe-inspiring cathedrals in England. Magnificent!
  • The Great Hall & King Arthur's Round Table: A must for merlin fans, even though the table's a fake by Henry VIII. The bullet holes, however, are authentic Civil War...
  • Winchester City Mill: restored by the National Trust and fill of fun things for kids to do
For lots more ideas, plus a full what's on guide, see the Visit Winchester website.

Shopping in Winchester
Winchester also a lovely place to shop, from the traditional paved High Street with the ancient Buttercross at its heart, to the covered comforts and trendy Primark store of the Brooks Centre. Take time to discover the delights of The Square, just in front of the Cathedral grounds.

Restaurants in Winchester
There are also some superb restaurants and great pubs in Winchester. Most of our favourite restaurants are on or around Jewry Street, including Loch Fyne, Hotel du Vin and Brasserie Blanc. It's hard to pick any pubs in particular, but The Old Vyne and The Wykeham Arms are worth a visit.
